United in excellence: The Faculty of Business leads a delegation to Jiangxi for better collaboration in talent cultivation

On 21 April, Prof Leng Mingming meets with representatives from the Education Department of Jiangxi Province, Nanchang University, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, and Jiangxi Normal University for an exchange of views on talent cultivation.

The Faculty of Business of Lingnan University hosted the Jiangxi Visit and Undergraduate Admission Talks from 19 to 27 April 2025. The delegation, led by Prof Leng Mingming, Dean of the Faculty of Business, visited the cities of Nanchang, Jiujiang, and Lushan to publicise undergraduate programmes and hold discussions with local education authorities. Members of the delegation included associate deans, department heads and the Director of the Research Institute.

The admission talks, “United in Excellence: A Journey of Shared Academic Brilliance”, introduced individual programmes, demonstrations, career opportunities and education resources, and interactive Q&A sessions, offering Jiangxi students a comprehensive insight into Lingnan University's strengths in internationalisation and diversification in programme development and academic disciplines, and suggesting an alternative study pathway unlocking global opportunities.

The delegation visited Nanchang No. 1 High School, the Attached High School of Jiangxi Normal University, Jiujiang No. 1 High School, and Tongwen Middle School, where delegates provided useful information about Lingnan University's strong liberal arts tradition, faculty development, talent incubation, employment prospects, admission criteria, and application procedures. They also responded promptly to students' inquiries in the Q&A sessions.

During the Q&A session, students from Jiujiang No.1 High School engage with the delegates from Lingnan University, exchanging views on programme choices, the campus environment, and scholarships.
The delegation visits Tongwen Middle School, where they tell the students about Lingnan University’s history and the unique programmes offered by the Faculty of Business.

Off-campus admission talks were arranged for parents and students from other cities in Jiangxi, which gave a holistic view of Hong Kong’s higher education system, the quality of teaching and learning resources of the faculty, and ways to pursue studies at Lingnan. With the support of Jiangxi’s education authorities and high schools, the talks were very successful, attracting over 1,000 teachers, parents, and students.

The delegation was also warmly welcomed by representatives from Jiangxi’s education authorities, universities and leading high schools, and their three meetings produced lively and productive discussions. Prof Leng Mingming described Lingnan University’s academic strengths and the individual features of the faculty, and gave his views on upgrading talent exchange and cooperation between institutions in Jiangxi and Hong Kong.

The discussion between both parties centred on higher education cooperation. Key topics included faculty-level collaboration in talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, research collaboration, and co-hosting academic activities in order to promote closer cooperation in developing high-end talents essential for national development and to foster synergies between Jiangxi and Hong Kong.

On 22 April, the delegation holds discussions with representatives from the Jiujiang Municipal Education Bureau and the management groups of several high schools in Jiujiang.

By integrating theoretical knowledge with illustrative case studies, Prof Chen explores the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence poses to human resources, offering high school students an immersive learning experience.
