Lingnan University Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies hosts the Chinese Medicine Education in the Community Project to explain how to treat eczema with traditional Chinese medicine

The Lingnan University Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies (APIAS) recently held a public seminar on Chinese medicine and eczema as part of their Chinese Medicine Education in the Community Project. The hybrid seminar, which allowed both in-person and online webinar participation, focused on Chinese medicine approaches to treating eczema and attracted 287 attendees.
Mr Lau Yuk-sing, a registered Chinese medicine practitioner from the Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association, spoke on “How Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Views and Treats Eczema”, “Characteristic TCM Therapies”, and “TCM Conditioning for Eczema”. He also gave practical lifestyle advice covering daily routines and diet, and described fire needle therapy, a specialised TCM treatment for eczema.
The seminar was part of a Chinese Medicine Education in the Community Project sponsored by the Chinese Medicine Development Fund, which aims to establish a community-based multi-benefit platform to enhance knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and culture. It gives advice to the elderly on how to maintain good health in later life, and its intergenerational co-learning model builds a rapport between young and old, promoting the principles of preserving health in Chinese medicine, and fostering mutual understanding and respect so as to achieve integration across generations.
